Tipperary Sinn Féin TD Martin Browne has called on TDs in Tipperary to stand up for struggling households, and act to ease the cost-of-childcare burden on parents.
Sinn Féin is calling for the government to give families a break by cutting the cost of childcare by two thirds from 2022 levels.
Deputy Browne says some families are paying the equivalent of a second mortgage on childcare in the middle of a cost of living crisis with record energy costs and housing costs, pushing many families to the brink.
Parents need affordable, local and high-quality childcare according to the TD who says the government must keep their promise that fees would decrease by 25% in Budget 2024.
The party want the Budget to deliver a reduction in the cost of childcare by two thirds from 2022 levels, and additional funding to be provided to ensure fair pay for professionals working in the sector. The Budget is to be delivered on October 10th.
