Uisce Eireann completed repairs to a burst water main in Bank Place, Tipperary town last evening which has resulted in water supply being restored to most parts of Tipperary town.
The company had erroneously issued a notice about a burst pipe on Davitt street.
It is understood that the pumping station at Longford bridge is delivering water at an uneven pressure rate and that this is causing some of the bursts to pipes.
The pressure at this plant is to be turned down at 11pm each night to prevent further burst pipes. The pressure will be increased at 6am each day. This will mean that some areas of higher elevation in the town will not have water overnight while this measure is in place.
Uisce Eireann can be contacted by telephoning 1 800 278 278 at any time of the day or night.
