Members of the Business community in Clonmel had a face to face meeting with representatives of Uisce Eireann yesterday. The event was arranged by William Bourke, General Manager of the Talbot Hotel and chair of the Clonmel Business Network .
A number of councillors and TDs including Martin Browne and Mattie McGrath also attended the meeting.
Business owners sought to impress on Uisce Eireann the disastrous supply issues plaguing the county and its impact on businesses and the public in general. Business operators left Uisce Eireann in no doubt about their frustration and concerns for their livelihoods.
The company was also informed of a preference for supply to continue to be sourced from Poulavanogue while the longer-term plans Irish Water has in mind for an alternative water source are developed. Councillors also raised concerns about the damage to appliances caused by hard water sources and the poor communication system offered by Uisce Eireann.
