Visiting Restrictions Introduced At Nenagh Hospital Amid COVID Outbreak

488

Visiting Restrictions have been introduced on one of the inpatient wards at Nenagh Hospital as part of the management of an outbreak of Covid-19 at the hospital.

The restrictions are in effect on Medical ward 2 only. Exceptions to the restrictions will be made on compassionate grounds for patients who are critically ill or at end-of-life, and for people assisting confused patients (e.g., patients with dementia). These exemptions are on a case-by-case basis

Hospital management says the restrictions are necessary to protect the safety of patients and staff and to keep essential healthcare services open for all patients.

Visiting at Medical Ward 1 in Nenagh continues as normal. Patients attending for scheduled care – outpatient clinics, day surgery and endoscopy – are asked to attend their appointments as planned.

Hospital Management is offering reassurance that all appropriate infection control precautions are being followed to minimise the risk of spreading COVID-19 infection.

Visitors are urged to co-operate with any advice from staff around local restrictions, hand hygiene, masks and other precautions. People with any symptoms of COVID-19 (sore throat, cough, temperature or shortness of breath etc.) are asked not to visit hospitals.

Meanwhile Tipperary University Hospital (TippUH – Clonmel)  management  advises that the hospital has resumed its normal visiting times for patients throughout the hospital as of today.
