Met Eireann has updated a Status Yellow rainfall warning due to come into effect at 2pm today and to be in place until 3am tomorrow morning.
Met Eireann is also warning of very strong winds in Munster and Leinster tonight from 9pm until approximately 6am tomorrow morning. The public are advised to expect southeast winds, veering southwest gusting up to 110km/h and higher on exposed coasts and hills. The winds could cause power outages, damage to temporary structures and disruption to travel.
Met Eireann is forecasting heavy rain with thundery downpours from 2pm today possibly leading to spot flooding and difficult travelling conditions.
The Status Yellow rainfall warning is valid until 3am on Saturday morning.
