Road works are to begin tonight to resurface the Main street in Tipperary Town.
Lagan Asphalt with bases in Clare and Kilkenny will complete the work on behalf of Breedon.
It is expected that the first phase will be the section from the Maid of Erin to the Junction at Bridge Street. No parking will be allowed in the work area from 8pm until 7am the following morning approximately.
It is expected that the work will take two weeks to complete.
A stop and go system will be in operation during the night time works and drivers are instructed to join traffic when it is flowing in the direction they wish to travel if they are leaving their property or moving on to Main street.
Drivers are advised to drive with caution in the area of the road works.
The contractor says the area has approximately 65 pieces of street furniture in terms of utility covers or gullies that will need to be adjusted.
The project has a cost of €500,000 and is funded by the Tipperary County Council Rates Abatement fund.
