Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath is repeating calls for An Garda Siochana to carry out an investigation into financial matters at RTE.
The Tipperary TD says he does not expect the ongoing and planned reviews to deal adequately with the issues of concern at the State Broadcaster.
The TD says RTE staff admitted to Oireachtas Committees that invoices were created with inaccurate information to process payments – referring to the creation of invoices for consultancy services to process payments to presenter Ryan Tubridy.
The TD says he is loath to make a complaint to the Garda to trigger an investigation.
Deputy McGrath also expresses no faith in the new DJ Kevin Bakhurst based on the fact that Mr Bakhurst pervious worked at RTE.
The Independent TD says the Government should not provide the requested €16M in funding to RTE from the public purse until the organisation is significantly reformed.
The TD also pointed to the payment of fines to date to Revenue of €1.4M and the expectation of further fines in respect of bogus self-employment contracts for staff at RTE as evidence of what he calls “naked deception and fraud” at RTE.
