A delegation of 30 – 35 people from Mautern in the Steinmark region of Austria are visiting County Tipperary in the coming days.
The group will be based in Clonmel and a tour of Tipperary town and a Cathaoirleach’s welcome from Cllr Declan Burgess are planned for Thursday July 20th.
The group are expected to arrive in Tipperary town at approximately 2.30pm on Thursday and then attend the Council offices later in the afternoon.
Tipperary town commenced a civic twinning programme with the small Austrian town in 2005 and there have been a number of reciprocal visits over the intervening years.
A delegation from Tipperary had to cancel a planned visit to Austria in 2020 due to the pandemic. Mautern has a population so approximately 4,000 people.
Clonmel man Desmond Doyle, now living in Mautern, developed an itinerary for the group’s visit to Ireland.
