A Boil Water Notice is now in place for customers supplied by Galtee Regional Public Water Supply to protect the health of customers – Uisce Eireann says the notice is not related to any industrial action on the part of staff but mainly due to recent heavy rainfall.
The notice will affect approximately 11,379 people in the following areas Emly, Lattin, Ballinard, Cullen, Ballywire, Kilross, Limerick Junction, Monard, Lisvernane, Rossadrehid, Bansha, Tankerstown, Kilfeacle, Golden, Cashel, Rosegreen, New Inn and surrounding areas.
Uisce Eireann says the recent heavy rainfall impacts the quality of the raw water available at the treatment plants – this interferes with the water disinfection process leading to the decision to issue a Boil Water Notice.
A map of the area affected is available to view below – customers can also check if their property is included by visiting the Water Quality section of www.water.ie and entering the property’s Eircode or by calling the Uisce Éireann’s customer care helpline, open 24/7, on 1800 278 278. Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann will receive direct communication on this Boil Water Notice and are reminded that the water is safe to consume once boiled and cooled.
At present there are Boil Water Notices in effect on the Burncourt/Ballylooby and Ardfinnan Public Water Schemes for a similar reason and four water treatment plants are on Precautionary Boil Water Notices due to industrial action today by members of the Unite Trade Union. All notices are expected to be in place until early next week at the earliest.
