Tipperary’s Alan Kelly TD is calling on the RTE executive to reflect on their answers at the Oireachtas Media Committee yesterday ahead of their meeting of the Public Accounts Committee this morning.
The Labour Party’s deputy who’s a member of the Public Accounts Committee says yesterday’s answers were unacceptable and embarrassing.
Deputy Kelly believes unless they have a ‘road to Damascus’ conversion, he cannot see how the Oireachtas, or the Government, can have confidence in them continuing beyond that appearance.
Meanwhile The Minister for Media Catherine Martin wants the Grant Thornton report into non-disclosed payments at RTÉ between 2017 and 2019 to be accelerated as the four-week waitdoes not reflect the urgency of the situation”.
