Tipperary Cahir Cashel MD is to hold it’s AGM on Monday at 11am followed by the June meeting. It is expected that outgoing Cathaoirleach Micheal Anglim(FF) will be followed by Cllr Declan Burgess(FG) assuming the Chairperson’s position.

There are 6 motions on the agenda for the meeting –

Cllr Declan Burgess is asking for the reinstatement of a Road Crossing Warden on the Cahir Road in Cashel in the interests of safety. The Cllr is also asking for an update on District plans to provide “Ready to Build Sites” – these are to be provided in every town and village to give self-builders a serviced site at a reduced cost as part of the Government’s Housing Policy.

Cllr Michael Fitzgerald has submitted two motions – one is calling on the Council to  unblock drains and shores in Bansha village as at present they are causing severe flooding. The second motion is asking the council to build a wall between two housing estates in Cashel –  Oliver Plunkett Park and Rock View. The wall is necessary to help combat anti social behaviour and littering in addition to giving residents increased privacy according to the Councillor.

Cllr Tony Black is seeking improved traffic calming and improved safety measures on all approach roads into Tipperary town.  Acknowledging that enforcement is a Garda responsibility Cllr Black says Tipperary County Council(TCC) has a role in ensuring the highest safety standards possible to protect motorists and pedestrians alike. The motion also asks that a funding source be explored.

The Cllr is also asking for action on the site of the former motel at Ballypadeen near Cashel – Cllr Black is asking that the council assess the site, and if possible add it to the derelict sites register. Houses on the site are unfinished for over 15 years. The councillor also wants TCC to engage with the developer to improve security fencing at the site.
