The GAA President Larry McCarty is to visit Tullylease on Monday evening. The village is located approximately 19 km from Newmarket and 20 km from Kanturk.
Mr McCarty, who normally lives in New York City is making the visit to unveil a plaque to mark his visit to the parish. His Great Grandfather William Linehan was born in Ballynaguilla in the late 1840s. The ceremony will take place at 7pm and all are welcome.
Mr McCarty relocated to Ireland for the duration of his three-year term as GAA President which will end in February 2024. He emigrated to the US in 1985 but has been deeply involved in GAA activities in the US and is the first overseas official elected to the office.
