Met Eireann has upgraded it’s weather warning to status Orange. The Status Orange – Thunderstorm and Rain warning covers all of Ireland and is valid until 6pm this evening. Thunderstorms and very heavy showers producing significant rainfall accumulations over short time periods are now forecast. This could lead to flash flooding, very difficult travelling conditions with reduced visibility and possible power outages.
The warning is an upgrade of an earlier status yellow warning.
The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is advising all road users to take extra care when using the roads due to thunderstorms and very heavy showers expected to produce significant rainfall accumulations over short time periods from 1pm to 6pm today.
