Knockavilla Community Council are seeking a meeting with Tipperary County Council to discuss ongoing water supply outages.  Cllr John Crosse says he will support the request.

The Community Council reports water outages almost every two weeks and questions how the local infrastructure is managed.

The Chairperson of the Community Council, Kieran Slattery, highlights that the pipe network in the area may be over complex with two supplies flowing on the same road.

In addition, Mr Slattery is seeking clarification about a local reservoir that has not been used in over 10 years.

Mr Slattery describes the public’s experience – some 100 households – as a “nightmare” and adds that repeated repair jobs on the scheme near Dundrum are a waste of taxpayers’ money and a complete repair/replacement job should be delivered as soon as possible.

At present the water supply comes from the Ironmills area. This hard water source is also causing damage to domestic appliances. Mr Slattery also says the current communication service provided by Uisce Eireann is totally unsatisfactory as the information is not timely and accurate. In addition residents have reported leaks in Knockavilla on the Public Water Supply only for it to take 4 days for repairs.

To help draw attention to the water supply problems in the area he is asking anyone with supply, pressure or water quality issues to contact the Uisce Eireann Customer Care line at 1 800 278 278.
