Counties Tipperary, Limerick and Clare are now under a Status Yellow Thunderstorm and Rainfall warning until 10pm tonight.
The Met Eireann warning also covers 13 other counties extending north to Roscommon and Louth.
Met Eireann says heavy showers with thunderstorms are likely.
The rainfall could lead to spot flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.
