Water shortages across the county continue with restrictions on two Schemes in the coming nights.
Tonight and on Saturday night there will be restrictions on the water supply in the Silverfort area on the Fethard Regional Water Supply Scheme. The restriction will run from 10pm to 8am on both nights.
This is to ensure a continued supply of water during the day for homes and businesses. Customers in the following areas will experience low pressure and/or outages: Silverfort, Foulkstown, Coleraine, Rathclough, and surrounding areas. A tanker to supply water will be available at Silverfort Cross until supplies have returned to normal. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil the water before consumption as a precautionary measure as per HSE advice. Further restrictions may be required.
There will also be night-time restrictions in the Rosegreen area to maintain daytime supply. this is supplied by the Galtee Regional Water Supply Scheme. The restrictions in Rosegreen tonight will be from 8pm until 8am tomorrow.
Tankers supplying water are to be placed at four locations until supplies have returned to normal. Customers are reminded to use their own containers. The tankers will be at Dansies Shop Carpark Rosegreen, adjacent to Tipperary Raceway Rosegreen, at the Rockview Housing Estate, Deerpark Road, Cashel and at the entrance to Greenfields Housing Estate
The night time restrictions are intended to help reservoir levels recover. Continued high demand for water, combined with ongoing low rainfall levels has resulted in local reservoir levels depleting to unsafe levels according to Irish water.
During this time, customers in the following areas will experience low pressure and/or outages: Rosegreen, Rathmacarthy, Rathsallagh, Tullamain, Lowesgreen, Stephenstown, Ballyduagh, Rathordan, Mayfield and surrounding areas. Uisce Eireann says further restrictions may be required. In addition to restrictions at Rosegreen, customers located at higher elevations of the network in Cashel town will experience reduced pressure and/or intermittent supply. This is due to low reservoir levels as a result of the high demand for water.
Communities across Tipperary are urged to be mindful of their water usage as increased domestic and commercial demand is being exacerbated by warm weather conditions.
