The Friary in Clonmel is to reopen for limited use as a venue for occasional Mass and Prayer. The Franciscans left Clonmel in January of this year due to falling vocations and limited personnel to provide religious services at the Friary. The residential part of the property is being refurbished to accommodate over 55 refugees from Ukraine. The Friary itself will now be known as the Abbey House of Prayer Clonmel and on Tuesday June 13th a special Mass will be celebrated at 10am. The mass will also include a ceremony of the blessing of lilies.
It’s understood that the church is to open once a week for prayer and for Mass, which will be celebrated by local priests.
