Councillor Declan Burgess has warmly welcomed the work carried out in bringing back the Bishops Walk in Cashel to community use. This walkway is due open in the near future and the Cashel based Councillor has thanked Tipperary County Council staff and contractors for their efforts on this vital Cashel project.
In the longer term the Councillor hopes that a Cashel Town park can be developed.

The Bishops Walk originally connected the Rock of Cashel to the Cashel Palace and Cllr Burgess is delighted that the walk has been enhanced to now include a direct link from the Rock to the town centre. This link is via the Main Street Car Park and leads also into the back of the Court House on Hogan Square where there is a wonderful new walkway developed.
This linkage is vitally important for Cashel’s business community and the tourism offering in the town according to the local public representative.

The Councillor hopes that Tipperary County Council will be able to secure funds from the next round of Rural Regeneration Development Funding to progress a town park for Cashel. The councillor wants the Council to have a proposal ready for the Scheme – council officials say they must await details of the scheme priorities before an application for funds can be presented.
Cllr Burgess is committed to working on the proposal as he believes that a town park “could mark a bright future for cultural, social, and economic success for Cashel and this region”.
