Cllr Andy Moloney has hit out at delays in the installation of EV charging points in Cahir town.
The local councillor says the town is at an economic disadvantage due to the lack of progress on the installation works.
At present there are no public EV charging points in the town which is hugely popular with tourists to Cahir Castle and the Swiss Cottage.
Tipperary County Council Engineer responsible for the rollout of such facilities Michael Tierney has identified a suitable location in Cahir and Cllr Moloney urged the Council Executive to address the issue which he said is an increasing concern as the peak tourist season approaches.
The Council Executive says an agreement is in place for the service with Easy Go but the delay may be due to issues with the ESB Network.
Former District Administrator Anthony Coleman for the Tipperary Cahir Cashel MD committed to contact the Roads Capital Office about the delay.
In October 2022 the Council noted that EasyGo was in the process of making power supply applications to ESB for 13 locations across the county.
If the cost associated with getting power to some locations proves excessive EasyGo were expected to propose an alternative location in the same town.
Tipp Cahir Cashel MD is to provide an EV charging point at the Castle car park in Cahir, Friar Street car park in Cashel and at the Market Yard in Tipperary town.
