Huge delays continue to be reported for patients in the wider Munster area in getting their medical test results.
Deputy Michael Lowry is for the delays to be addressed as a matter of urgency.
In South Tipperary, Microbiology and Histopathology services are located at University Hospital Waterford where all Pathology Consultants are based.
The Hospital says due to demand exceeding capacity the average waiting time for non-urgent patient results at Tipperary University Hospital is currently 11 weeks.
For North Tipperary, patient tests are handled at University Hospital Limerick where patients face a huge backlog – results, other than those for endoscopies, take between 3 to 4 months.
The Thurles based TD says the unacceptable delays are causing huge distress to patients and families.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly is to seek an update from both hospital laboratory services.
