€75M in funding for Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel announced yesterday will be used to provide a new 68 bed Ward Block for an ultra-modern Paediatric Unit, to replace the existing outdated unit at the Hospital according to Deputy Michael Lowry. Deputy Lowry says the new Paediatric Unit will be located to the rear of the 40-bed unit modular unit completed in 2021.
The €75M in capital funding is to cover all the Capital costs associated with the project including design fees, construction costs, equipment costs and other costs associated with the project.
It is estimated that the design, tendering, groundworks, construction and fit-out of the new Paediatric will take approximately 4-5 years to complete. Tipp Mid West Radio has sought details from Tipperary University Hospital Clonmel as to the use of the capital funding and the timeline for the project.
