Preparations for this week’s Tipperary Music Festival are continuing. The four day music festival begins on Thursday evening and will conclude on Sunday.  A marquee has now been installed at the festival venue, the Lidl car park at Bank Place, Tipperary town.  A security cordon has also been put in place.

Organisers say the event is restricted to those aged over 18 and have come in for some criticism for not specifying this in advance of launching ticket sales. Full details of the performers and ticket purchase options are available via the tipperarytown.ie website or from committee members. The committee is led by Eamon Ryan and also includes promoter John O’Brien, Stephen Ryan, Sharon O’Dwyer, Jack Leonard and Stevie O’Donnell.

The event offers 4 consecutive evenings of music specially selected to appeal to all ages.  The event begins on Thursday May 11th  with Cliona Hagan and band and includes a guest appearance by Louise Morrissey, Friday night features the Tumbling Paddies – DJ Richie will open the first two nights.  On Friday night the feature act is Abbaesque,  an ABBA Tribute band followed by a 90s disco. On May 14th , the final night, the star entertainer is Mike Denver and band – preceded by DJ Richie. The event organisers have provided bar facilities on site.  The event is expected to bring visitors to the town and be a boost to the local hospitality and accommodation sector.
