N24 Project Up In The Air After Dáil Discussion

302

The ongoing uncertainty regarding funding for the N24 Cahir to Limerick project was raised in the Dáil yesterday by Tipperary TD Martin Browne.  Minister of State Thomas Byrne responded for the Government as Transport Minister Eamon Ryan was attending an event in Athlone. Deputy Browne rejected the response that the issue was one of constraints on funding in 2023 and flatly rejected the explanation that funding for road projects in the National Development Plan is loaded more towards 2025 to 2030.

The Cashel based TD queried if funds had been moved from the N24 project  this year to be used  for projects put forward by the Regional Independent Group of TDs as part of a deal for their support for the Government. This was rejected by Minister Byrne.

Deputy Browne is adamant that Tipperary town cannot be left behind telling the Dáil that the town has been waiting for 40 years for a Bypass to be delivered and totally rejected a commitment to merely keep the funding under review.

A meeting involving Transport Minister Eamon Ryan and representatives from the counties through which the stretch of the entire N24 road project travels has been requested Deputy Browne.
