The local Crime Prevention Officer says some people are getting calls from scammers claiming to be from the Broadband provider Eir where their asked to download an app onto their phone to improve their internet speed while others are getting texts claiming to be from Toll booth company eflow stating there’s an amount due on the account and it must be paid immediately.

Tom O Dwyer says any unsolicited calls or texts should be ignored, while being asked to download an app onto your phone, click on a link, enter personal or bank information should be a red flag.

Sergeant O Dwyer says in this case, the downloaded app allows the scammers full access to your phone and bank information.
