Thurles Municipal District Council has allocated €28,300 euros to support festivals and events in the District for 2023.
The Tangle Around event in Thurles is allocated €9,000 – music, arts and culture event is a two day event set for June 3rd and 4th this year.
The Liberty Music Festival set for July 8th & 9th in Thurles town park is allocated €4,000 and will feature tribute bands, bars and food.
Thurles Circling the Square poetry festival in celebration of poetry and the late Dennis O’Driscoll is allocated €6,000 – the event is planned for 20th – 22nd October.
Thurles Halloween festival is also to receive €4,000. Thurles and Littleton St Patrick’s day committees are allocated €2,500 and €1,000 respectively.
The Two Mile Borris Village Party is allocated €500 while the Horse and Jockey Walking festival is to receive €300.
The Skyfest Christmas event set for December in Thurles is allocated €1,000.
The funds were approved at Monday’s meeting of the Thurles District MD meeting.
