Tipperary Cahir Cashel Municipal District Council has a major agenda of work for Monday’s meeting at the Rosanna Road office. There are only two motions on the agenda for consideration. Cllr Tony Black is seeking the installation of “Slow Zone” signs in the Avondale Crescent Housing Estate in Tipperary town for the safety of residents and the residents of an adjacent nursing home.
Cllr Anne Marie Ryan requests that the Council asks the Courts Service to resume sittings of the District Court in Tipperary town. The motion notes that the Court sittings were moved to Nenagh at the beginning of the pandemic. Cllr Ryan says the amalgamation of the Court Services to Nenagh is a downgrade of the court services in West Tipperary and is contributing to the lengthy backlog of cases causing further stress to those involved.
The meeting is also to consider the Chief Executives Report in respect of the Dan Breen House planning application. The proposal is to modify the building to provide a new base for Youthwork Ireland and a facility for Tipperary Education and Training Board to provide education and training courses.
The 11 District Councillors will receive an update from the Housing and Community and Economic Directorates in addition to an update from the Tipperary Revitalisation Task Force and a Garda report on a Speed Check conducted at Shronell National School.
The councillors will also be asked to approve funding allocations to Festivals & Events, Tidy Towns and Burial Ground Grants.
