Lowry Calls For End To Barriers On Construction Of Clonmel Garda Station

Independent TD Michael Lowry is supporting calls for the barriers to construction of a new Garda station in Clonmel to be removed as a matter of urgency.

The Station is one of 3 projects including a Garda station in Cork and a family court in Dublin to be delivered as a public private partnership.

The Court project is delayed causing the entire project to be delayed. Deputy Lowry wants the projects separated so that the Clonmel Garda station project can proceed as it has planning permission and funding.

The Thurles based TD says a delay of several more years is not acceptable to provide a suitable Garda Station for the largest town in Tipperary.

The Taoiseach and Minister for Justice have recently committed to examining how the Clonmel Garda Station can be made a standalone project to enable work to commence.
