The Health Information and Quality Authority published 30 inspection reports on infection control in designated centres for people with disabilities today. The inspections were in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure robust infection control measures beyond COVID-19. The targeted inspections were to assess providers’ compliance with regulations applying to protection against infection. Inspectors found a generally good level of compliance with the regulations and standards across 21 centres inspected with findings of either compliance or substantial compliance.
Two of the reports related to facilities in county Tipperary – the Rehab Respite Service in Thurles and the St Anne’s Residential service provided by Avista – both were found to be substantially compliant and an action plan was put in place at both locations to address concerns identified by the inspector.
