Financial support of €189,000 for 134 community and voluntary groups has been allocated today – 6 organisations in county Tipperary have been awarded funding to help with energy bills. This is the third round of funding under the scheme which has helped over 550 groups to date. The government has also announced today that the scheme will remain open until March 24th and will be expanded to include HSE funded Section 39 organisations.
Under the Community and Voluntary Energy Support Scheme (CVESS), small grants are provided to community groups, development associations, and volunteer-led organisations. Payments will be issued to the organisations immediately. The 6 Tipperary groups are NIPARC (Nenagh) €1,803, Tipperary Mid-West Radio €1,491, Aherlow Kilross Community Council €833, Mullinahone Community Council €680, 1st/4th/22nd/32nd Tipperary Clonmel Scout Group €200, Live Art Ireland Elain Bheo €1,278.
The scheme is now open to incorporated community and voluntary organisations or charities who have been refused support under the Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme (TBESS), on the grounds that they are engaged in passive trade.
Such organisations should apply in the normal way, providing confirmation from the Revenue Commissioners that they are ineligible under TBESS.
