National Broadband Ireland (NBI), the company rolling out the new high speed fibre broadband today announced that construction has commenced to deliver high-speed broadband to 1,609 premises in the Mullinahone deployment area. This will enable homes, businesses and farms in the area to connect to the National Broadband Network.

In Tipperary, there are approximately 30,000 premises in the Intervention Area (IA), which includes homes, farms, commercial businesses and schools. Under the National Broadband Plan, County Tipperary will see an investment of €118M in the new high speed fibre network. This is intended to enable a wide range of activities supported by the network in the areas of education, business, and e health amongst others and to facilitate increased levels of remote working.

Updates on work and estimated connection dates for all areas are available on the website nbi.ie

Works have already been completed in other parts of Tipperary and there are 5,807 premises that are available to order or pre-order high-speed, reliable broadband across the county, with 1,588 connections already made to the network. National Broadband Ireland is calling on people to visit nbi.ie and enter their Eircode to see if they are ready to connect.

Under the National Broadband Plan, 559,000 premises nationwide are included in the Intervention Area, which covers areas where commercial operators are not currently providing access to high-speed broadband or do not intend to.
