The Rural Independent TD grouping is calling on the government to provide financial aids for families and vulnerable citizens to mitigate cost-of-living crisis

Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath says the failure of the government to clarify it’s plans in respect of supports due to expire at the end of February  shows a disconnect with the reality of the financial struggles of families and vulnerable citizens.

The Rural Independents are calling for an extension of all financial aids for a minimum of at least six months to help alleviate the cost-of-living crisis. Deputy McGrath highlighted that those living in rural areas will be hardest hit if the reduced VAT on diesel and petrol is removed as planned at the end of the month.
