Tipperary TD, Jackie Cahill is hopeful of progress today on the campaign for the restoration of community access to the swimming pool at the Garda College in Templemore.
A meeting is to take place today at Leinster House involving the WE Just Want To Swim Group Templemore and Justice Minister Simon Harris.
Deputy Cahill acknowledged the work of the group led by Deirdre Ryan in keeping the issue of local access to the College pool to the forefront.
Last week it emerged that three local schools are to be given a licence to use the pool.
The Campaign group says doing this in February only allows a few months of access and limits the number of children that can avail of swimming lessons.
We Just Want To Swim Templemore is seeking access for schools from September to June. The Group are also seeking a restoration of the weekend swimming lessons as had been the norm at the facility especially on Friday nights since 1965.
