The Source Arts Centre in Thurles is to receive €115,000 in funding from the Arts Council. The allocation is part of a wider allocation of €9.5M to 42 arts centres/organisations across the country.
The Lime Tree Belltable in Limerick is allocated €270,000. The highest award of €940,000 goes to the Project Arts Centre in Dublin and the lowest allocation is €55,000 the Arts Centre in Ballina county Mayo. The Source Arts Centre is the only recipient of funding under the scheme in county Tipperary.
The Arts Council says the funding is intended to support the infrastructure of arts centres enabling people of all ages and backgrounds in every part of the country to experience the very best of the arts. It is also essential in providing resources to artists in the development of their work.
The Arts Council currently provides programming and revenue supports to over fifty Arts Centres throughout the country.
Today’s allocation is in addition to €114M allocated under various Arts Council schemes to support artists, festivals, county councils, schools and organisations deemed to be strategically important to the arts.
