Community Employment , Tús and Rural Social Scheme supervisors and assistant supervisors can expect a pay increase in 2023. The Government has accepted the need for a pay increase for supervisors and assistant supervisors within CE, TÚS and RSS but the details have yet to be agreed. The news comes as a pay claim has been submitted to the Workplace Relations Commission on behalf of such employees. The Department of Social Protection accepts the merit of a pay increase and will allocate funding from its current estimates to support any pay settlement that may be agreed. The Department is not the direct employer but funds the bodies that organise and deliver such schemes.
The news has been welcomed by Tipperary TD Jackie Cahill as he noted that it is 15 years since the last increase. Deputy Cahill also praised the work delivered by such schemes across the county.
As of June 2022, nationally there were over 19,000 participants on CE schemes, almost 5,000 participants on Tús and just under 3,000 participants on the Rural Social Scheme. 2,500 are employed as scheme supervisors and assistant supervisors.
