The number of people availing of homeless supports has increased again during the month of November 2022.
Figures published by the Department of Housing today show an increase of 145 people.
Across County Tipperary there has been a slight reduction to 40 adults in homelessness – down from 42 in October.
Similarly, the figure for Limerick shows a reduction of 3 persons down from 365 in October to 362 in November.
A total of 11,542 adults and children are now accommodated in emergency accommodation funded and overseen by housing authorities. The total for October was 11,397.
The November total shows an increase in the number of adults homeless now at 8,048 and child dependents at 3,494 up from 7,917 and 3,480 respectively in October 2022.
These figures represent people availing of supports and therefore may not be an accurate reflection of homelessness – those sleeping rough or living in overcrowded situations are not included.
The data reveals that 61% of adults homeless are Irish, 22% are of UK/EEA origin and 17% come from outside the European Economic Area.
