Wellworths on Main Street Tipperary Town has emerged as the winner of the Best Christmas Window competition for 2022. The event was organised by the Tipperary Events and Promotions Group and judged by representatives of Tipperary Tidy Towns. The winners will receive a prize consisting of an advertising package with Tipp Mid West Radio.
The design of the window display is led by Maureen Walsh co-owner with husband Tony. Maureen says Christmas windows are about Christmas and not really about merchandise on sale. It gives traders an opportunity to “sprinkle some Christmas magic” along the streets of towns and villages and add to the festive spirit. Ms Walsh also encouraged collaboration between traders and the sharing of Christmas themed items between stores for their Christmas displays.
The organisers have also given a highly commended rating to Nina Polski Skelp, Beechgrove, Michael Fitzgerald Optician, Danny Ryan Music Shop, Sinead Barbershop, O’Deas Menswear and Prime74. Public houses in Tipperary were also praised by the judges for their use of local artists to paint their windows for the festive season.
