Public Feedback Sought On Clonmel Town Centre CCTV System

385

Public feedback is being sought in respect of the Clonmel Town Centre CCTV System as plans are at an advance stage to upgrade and extend the system.

Tipperary County Council, in conjunction with An Garda Siochana in Clonmel, propose to extend the Garda Town Centre CCTV system in Clonmel by amalgamating all public CCTV cameras in Clonmel into one single system to include the existing CCTV cameras in Elm Park, Cooleens Close & Heywood Road together with proposed new CCTV cameras in Suir Island, Abbey Street, Davis Road Car Park, Kickham Barracks and Heywood Road. It is proposed that all CCTV cameras will be linked to a CCTV server located in Civic Offices, Emmet Street, Clonmel where the system would form part of the existing Garda Town Centre CCTV system and operate under the control of Tipperary County Council as Data Protection Officer. A total of 86 cameras will be in use when the system is fully operational – made up of the existing 34 cameras and 52 new cameras.

These CCTV camera location details are now available for viewing in Clonmel Public Library from Wednesday 21st December, 2022 to Friday 13th January or on the council website. Closing date for comments, views and observations is Friday 13th January, 2023. Issues around compliance with GDPR requirements have now been clarified and CCTV schemes in Littleton, Fethard and Borrisokane are also expected to be operational in the very near future.
