Councillors in the Tipperary Cahir Cashel District have decided to invite King Charles III to Tipperary town.
The proposal was made at the December meeting of the Municipal District Council by Cllr Michael Fitzgerald.
The Council had agreed to send a letter of condolence to the King on the occasion of the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth on September 8th.
The King has now sent an acknowledgment of that letter to the Councillors with a picture of himself as a young boy with his mother.
King Charles says the message from Tipperary is “enormously comforting” and “deeply appreciated.”
The proposal was made by Cllr Michael Fitzgerald who struck up a rapport with the King when he visited Cahir and Cashel in March of this year accompanied by his wife Camilla.
