Thurles MD To Hold Special Meeting On Enhancement Works In Slievenamon Road

373

A special meeting of the Thurles Municipal District Council has been scheduled for Friday December 16th. The meeting arose as a decision on the proposed enhancement works to Slievenamon Road was deferred at the November 21st meeting of the council. Fourteen submissions were made in respect of the Part 8 planning application and although the Chief Executive’s Report recommended no changes to the design proposed the councillors were not happy to proceed.

The proposed design will see the roadway narrowed to 6.5M and wider footpaths installed. Parking on the roadway would be reduced and regularised with defined parking spaces. Engineers Mott McDonald were asked to revise the design to include additional parking spaces. No details of the revisions have been made public at the stage. The project extends from Liberty Square to the roundabout at the shopping centre south of the town centre.
