Three Tipp Primary Schools To Benefit From Safe Routes to School Programme

Three national schools in Co, Tipperary will soon benefit from safer infrastructure which will allow students to walk, cycle and scoot to school every day.

Cullen National School, St. Brigid’s Nationals School Donaskeigh and St. Mary’s Central NS Killenaule Thurles are part of the second round of the Safe Routes to School Programme.

The programme aims to create safer walking and cycling routes within communities, alleviate congestion at the school gates.

The National Transport Authority is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of projects right across the country.

108 schools nationally will be included in the latest round with €20M  via  Safe Routes to School Programme expected to benefit some 37,000 students – the funds will come from Tipperary County Council’s Annual Active Travel Allocation.

County Tipperary is expected to draw down €6.6M in Active Travel funding for 2022 and  is seeking up to €8M for 2023.
