A business owner in Tipperary town is calling for a greater visibility of Garda on the streets.

The call comes following a recent incident of bag snatching in the town.

Kate Barry who’s business operates on Main street, says some of her customers are now afraid to come into town and also revealed that drug dealers are openly selling drugs in town, including close to her business.

The lack of a visible presence only serves to make criminals more brazen in their actions according to the well-established business operator.

The need for CCTV and better sentencing to act as a deterrent is also being highlighted by the business woman who accepts that those suffering drug addiction need services.

Ms Barry also called for greater Garda presence in the post office area of the town to ensure those collecting cash payments felt safe as they went about their daily routines.

Those responsible for the bag snatching incident, two teenagers, have been apprehended and are now being dealt with via the Justice system.
