Garda in Tipperary town are investigating a mugging incident that occurred this morning in the Market Yard carpark. The incident occurred between 10.30am and 10.45am. The woman, understood to be aged in her late 70s was returning to her car after attending an engagement in the area when she was attacked by two young males. The woman fell to the ground as the assailants took her handbag. The woman did not suffer serious injuries but is said to be badly shaken by the incident. An ambulance attended the scene and determined that the woman did not need to be hospitalised. Garda are in the process of taking a statement but are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward particularly anyone that was in the Market Yard, Mitchell Street area of Tipperary town between 10 and 11am. The assailants are understood to have been wearing dark coloured clothing. Garda have since recovered the woman’s handbag, bank cards and telephone.
