The organisers of a music festival in Thurles say they have to find a new venue due to safety concerns. The Liberty Music Festival, a two-day event featuring tribute bands was held for the first time in 2022 in Liberty Square. There was no road closure put in place so the concert goers had traffic on the N75 passing the stage and audience area. Plans have been announced for the festival to become a ticketed event in Thurles Town Park on July 8 and 9th 2023.
The organisers say Thurles Town Park will be transformed into a fabulous festival site with Thurles publicans providing licenced bars on site. The concert was a free event last year. No details as to any charges for the 2023 event have been announced as of now. The organisers say they hope to have their budget finalised before the end of the year and all details of the performers and tickets will be confirmed at that stage.
