Garda in Thurles have released without charge a man aged in his 20s that had been arrested in relation to the fatal hit and run road traffic collision near Clonmore in the early hours of Monday morning.
Garda say that a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Thurles Info reports that the victim has been named locally as Mr Tony Cullen.
The incident occurred a short distance from his home. Mr Cullen, had spent his career in the Defence Forces, before retiring approximately 10 years ago and was working as a barman in the area and was well known to members of the community.
Gardaí in Thurles Garda Station continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward as they investigate the circumstances of Mr Cullen’s death.
