The Tipperary town Chamber of Commerce is asking for help from the public to fund the cost of Christmas lights in the town this year.
The Council is to provide a grant of €5,000 and a significant sum has been raised by direct contributions from local businesses.
A major fundraising tractor and bike run in aid of the Christmas Lights fund is to be held on Saturday December 17th beginning from the Plaza, Limerick Road, at 2pm.
However, the costs to have the lights erected and removed in addition to the energy costs are significant this year.
The organisers say some new lights are required and electricity connections need to be certified and reconnected.
A new GoFundMe page titled Light up Tipperary Town this Christmas has been launched and the organisers say any donation made will be much appreciated. Please use this link here to make a donation.
The lights will be officially turned on by Tipp Mid-West Radio’s Louise Morrissey on Saturday December 10th at 5.30pm.
