A Tipperary based solicitor is now the President of the Law Society.
Maura Derivan is a managing partner in the firm Derivan Sexton & Company in Carrick-On-Suir.
Ms Derivan says access to justice will be a significant focus for the year ahead, this will include highlighting the need for urgent investment in resources and personnel in the Courts Service along with increased access and investment in legal aid.
She becomes the 152nd President of the Law Society and is the sixth woman to serve in the role.
