The Minister for Health is confident that the significant infrastructure at University Hospital Limerick will improve the capacity issue.
Maurice Quinlan, Sinn Fein TD for Limerick City says the staff are under pressure and basic issues such as proper hygiene protocols are not being met.
Minister Stephen Donnelly was responding to a question by Sinn Fein’s Maurice Quinlan, says the government is committed to improve the service for patients in Tipperary and the wider Mid-West region.
Minister Donnelly says construction of space for additional beds, the launching of the waiting list action plan and a review into recruitment of social care were all measures being taken to tackle overcrowding at UHL.
Sinn Fein Deputy Mr Quinlan believes the Minister needs to step up and deal with capacity in a real way as his current policies are not working.
