A young woman from Templemore has been presented with a Special Recognition Award at the Garda Youth Awards.
Saoirse Kelly carried out life-saving first aid on a boy that had been pulled from a lake in July 2022.
Garda say her brave actions and composure in the face of crisis meant that the young boy survived.
In all 23 Youth awards were presented to individuals and youth groups to recognise their contributions in the Tipperary, Dublin, Wicklow, Kerry, Cork, Wexford, Sligo/Leitrim, Mayo/Roscommon, Longford, Kildare, and Donegal Divisions.
In 2019, the National Garda Youth Awards were established by Garda Commissioner, Drew Harris in recognition of the meaningful work of so many young people in communities all across Ireland.
