A 12 year old Tipperary pupil is celebrating after receiving 97% grade in her Junior Cert Math exam.
Cara Darmody from Ardfinnan took on the challenge to raise awareness of the lack of services for children with special needs.
The Ardfinnan NS pupil roped in her Dad Mark to help her prepare for the exam.
Cara is setting her sights on a new challenge by attempting to sit the ordinary level Leaving Certificate Maths exam next June to raise vital funds for Ardfinnan National School and AsIAm, Family Carers Ireland, and Scoil Chormaic.
Cara’s journey so far has led her to Government Buildings where she has held meetings with An Taoiseach Micheál Martin, Sinn Féin leader, Mary-Lou McDonald, and the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism.
Cara who’s younger brothers, 9-year-old Neil and 5-year-old John, are both non-verbal with autism says she’s seen first-hand the difficulties her family have had in getting much needed supports services for her younger siblings.
