Tipperary TD Jackie Cahill is to raise the public use of the swimming pool in Templemore Garda College with the Minister for Justice in the Dáil today.
It is one of the Topical Issues selected by the Ceann Comhairle and scheduled for discussion from 9.12 am.
Yesterday the local We Just Want To Swim group held a protest at the gates of the College as senior members of the force attended a meeting.
The protest featured local children – at present over 800 children have expressed an interest in using the pool.
Garda management say the pool is not going to be used until April due to energy costs and a small number of recruits on the campus at present.
